The truth knocks on the door and you say "Go away, I'm looking for the truth," and so it goes away. Puzzling.

They're not too busy to be courteous. The hereness and nowness of things is something they know all about. It's the others, the ones who moved to the city years ago and their lost offspring who have all but forgotten it. The discovery was a real find.

A friend is one that knows who you are, understands where you have been, accepts what you have become, and still, gently, allows you to grow.

No one has seen God, but as we love one another, God lives in us.

There are some people who, in order not to pray use as an excuse the fact that life is so hectic that it prevents us from praying.
This cannot be.
Prayer does not demand that we interrupt our work, but that we continue working as if it were a prayer.
It is not necessary to always be in meditation, nor to consciously experience the sensation that we are talking to God, no matter how nice that would be. What matters is being with Him, living in Him, in His will. To love with a pure heart, to love everybody, especially to live the poor, is a twenty-four hour prayer.

The first requirement for prayer is silence. People of prayer are people of silence.

Make us, Lord, worthy to serve our brothers and sisters who are scattered all over the world, who live and die alone and poor. Give them today, using our hands, their daily bread. And, using our love, give them peace and happiness. Amen.

I have the feeling that we are in such a hurry that we do not have time to look at one another and smile.

What the poor need most is not pity but love. They need to feel respect for their human dignity, which is neither less nor different from the dignity of any other human being.

I prefer to make a mistake because I am too kind than to perform miracles without any kindness.
